Nero

Mixed Breed · Unknown

There is much to report about the small, delicate Nero, but little about his past life. Let's start with our dear treasure. Nero is a friendly, albeit still somewhat shy young dog who is doing his best to manage his living situation and hasn't given up hope that something might improve. Nero brings many good qualities to the table for a life in a real family. He is willing and affection-seeking, even if he can't show it yet. He is friendly towards dogs and cats. He has patiently endured extensive procedures and examinations at the vet. And isn't that a lot, don't you think? Considering that Nero's life has been far from worth living until now, one quickly recognizes the potential in this little dog. Nero comes from an official seizure, as do Leo, Karma, Athena, and Daisy, among numerous other dogs featured on our homepage. The neglected dogs and equally neglected cats lived in an apartment under the worst conditions and were all in a deplorable state. They were taken to the State animal shelter, where they also received medical care, vaccinations, microchips, haircuts, and baths. Little sweaters and coats were brought in so they wouldn't be too cold, and now they are already feeling a bit better. Although they are now in kennels, their chances of finding a true home among the 2,500 dogs there are not very high. Unless, of course, you have just fallen in love with our little Nero. Unless, of course, you are the person who can already see how handsome this now naked puppy will look one day when his silky dark fur grows back. We wish for Nero a FOREVERHOME where he can catch up on everything that has been denied him so far, where he will be loved and valued, and where his new people will take the effort to teach him the basics of dog life. Little Nero, we hope your human, your family, finds you soon. Now everything must finally turn out well. If you are interested in Nero, please feel free to call his mediator. All contact information is listed at the bottom. She will advise and guide you kindly. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Nero

What life with Nero looks like

Nero is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
