Adopt NICKI

Cane Corso · Female · Adult · 5 years

NICKI, a magnificent female Cane Corso of 5 years, is waiting today for her forever family. Upon her arrival at the shelter, NICKI was in a concerning state: very thin, with milk in her mammary glands, but without her puppies by her side. Thanks to a beautiful outpouring of solidarity, our teams were able to find and retrieve three of her little ones. Today, the puppies are approaching 2 months old, and after fulfilling her role as a mother with courage and dedication, NICKI deserves to find a loving home in turn. NICKI is a very pleasant dog to live with. On walks, she strolls calmly without pulling and knows how to be friendly with certain other animals of the same species. However, she can guard her bowl, which requires particular vigilance in the presence of another dog. As for cats, cohabitation could be considered with a bit of work, as she already knows how to divert her attention from those at the shelter. Very affectionate, close to humans, and in need of contact, NICKI leaves no one indifferent. Behind her touching story lies a gentle and endearing dog, ready to offer all her love to a family that will give her the stability and attention she deserves. We have no doubt: NICKI will be a wonderful dog!

About NICKI

What life with NICKI looks like

NICKI is a adult cane corso dog waiting at SPA Colmar in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting NICKI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about NICKI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Colmar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw NICKI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt NICKI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Colmar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is NICKI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if NICKI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Colmar early rather than rehoming privately; they know NICKI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
