Nika

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

Nika and her sister Belle were found alone in a box on the roadside. Fortunately, they were brought to safety and now live in a foster home in Bistrita, Romania. There, they can experience what a safe and protected life feels like for the first time. As nice as this initial safety is, Nika should not grow up in the foster home, but in a loving home of her own. The young female puppy is about 3.5 months old and will grow to be medium-sized. Nika is a gentle, friendly and sweet little dog who immediately touches everyone with her balanced nature. For her young age, she is surprisingly calm and pleasant. At the same time, she is naturally curious and open to everything life has in store for her, typical of a puppy. In her foster home, Nika shows herself to be a completely uncomplicated puppy. She is already familiar with the household, lives without problems with other dogs of any gender, age and size, and is also familiar with cats. She is also very friendly, loving and attached to people. Nika thus brings the best prerequisites for settling in well in a new home. Like every puppy, Nika still needs to learn the basics of dog behavior. Housebreaking, leash training, staying alone and all the small and large things of everyday life need time, patience and loving guidance. Therefore, we wish for Nika people who accompany her on her way with care, calmness and clarity and show her how beautiful a dog life can be in security. Visiting a positively working dog school can also be a great support for a puppy like Nika. We are sure that Nika will develop into a wonderful companion who will give her family a lot of joy. Nika travels with a microchip, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free with a valid EU pet passport. She will be placed after a positive preliminary check and for a deposit. Would you like to give Nika a loving home or maybe give her a chance as a foster home in Germany? Then please contact us. Many thanks to Lena K. Thanks to you, Nika not only has a beautiful name, but now also gets the chance at a better life. Status: 13.07.2026 Further information on the preliminary check and deposit

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Nika

What life with Nika looks like

Nika is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
