adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Silas has found a home! His story: Don't believe those who say there are no puppies in animal shelters! On the contrary – in Baia Mare, puppies of every size and every conceivable color are sitting and waiting with hopeful eyes for dog-loving people to adopt them. One of them is the handsome, snow-white Silas. He is only about three months old and, like his siblings Tash, Greta, Lakota, Fietje, and Kimba, and his beautiful mother Lykke, he hasn't had any luck in his short life. The entire dog family is currently living in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare and is desperately searching for a new home in a loving family. Here in the shelter, the little Silas should only stay as long as absolutely necessary, because even if our staff give their all, no one finds the time to properly care for the puppies. And at this young age, the handsome little one should be learning the rules for living with humans in a playful manner. Therefore, Silas is looking for loving people who will take him in and give him the best chance at a permanent home. But we would also be very happy to have a foster home where the clever puppy can show what a great guy he is. Silas is still a true puppy. His sweet face, his handsome appearance, and especially his smooth, snow-white fur make him a star among his spotted siblings. The handsome fellow is a clever puppy who likes to play and finds other dogs very interesting. Silas is very friendly and open with people and immediately shows his cheerful, confident, and people-oriented nature. The handsome puppy is expected to grow into a medium to large dog who, of course, should be loved and spoiled, but also needs enough mental and physical stimulation and training. Given his mother's appearance, Silas might be a mix with a herding dog, and his future people should be prepared for the possibility that he may develop working-dog-like traits later on. Therefore, they should ideally already have experience with herding dogs and be able to offer him a more rural home and an appropriate task. The sweet puppy naturally has no experience with life as a house dog and has not heard of house training or leash manners. But if he is shown with patience and consistency what is expected of him, he will hopefully learn the rules quickly. In a few months, Silas will enter puberty, which may undo everything he has learned so far. But with understanding, humor, and a lovingly consistent training style, Silas can emerge from this phase as a well-trained and confident young dog, bringing joy to his family. After an appropriate adjustment period, Silas will surely be happy to visit dog training classes that work positively and will support his education and bond with his new people. For the handsome Silas, we wish for a loving family that meets him with respect and gives him enough time to adjust to his new living situation. His new people should offer him plenty of dog contact and be willing to work patiently and consistently on the training of an active dog. If you have fallen in love with the sweet puppy and want to offer him an appropriate dog life, then contact us! We thank Marie N. heartily, the name sponsor, who chose the wonderful name for Silas. As of 18.02. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Silas

What life with Silas looks like

Silas is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Silas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Silas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Silas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Silas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Silas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Silas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Silas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
