adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nikita has found her luck! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. Our wonderful Nikita is a full package. She was found on the street and was nourished up by our great local helpers. Now she is in the shelter and should not grow up here. Can you give her a loving home? Nikita, at 4 months old, is an unburdened and loving mouse. She could hardly be more playful. She is very sweet, friendly, and looks forward to a lot of human affection. Her loving gaze goes straight to the heart. The little mouse has also already had the chance to get to know other dogs, cats, and children and has managed everything around her very well. She will likely be of medium size when fully grown. In puppyhood, of course, dogs still have a few silly thoughts in their heads and are still discovering the world with their button eyes. Nikita still doesn’t know the whole dog ABC – house training, leash, boundaries, etc., are all still foreign words to the little mouse. One or two mishaps shouldn’t be taken too harshly. She deserves to learn, with love, consistency, and positive reinforcement, how life with humans works. Even during the exciting puberty that follows the puppyhood, this can sometimes be a challenge for both sides on the leash. Nikita and her family will greatly benefit from dog training classes based on positive reinforcement, creating calmness, knowledge, and trust to master the exciting growth phase as a team. Additionally, this upbringing lays the very best foundation for a secure bond, which Nikita so desires and deserves. It can take some time, but it definitely pays off in the end! Nikita is searching for a loving family that doesn’t have too many expectations and gives her all the time she needs to settle in. She travels dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for fleas. Nikita has an EU pet passport and is available for adoption for 450 Euros. Even foster home offers would make the little, lively mouse very happy! Many thanks Gabriele M.! Thanks to you, Nikita has her special name!

Vielen Dank Gabriele M.! Dank euch hat Nikita ihren besonderen Namen bekommen!

About Nikita

What life with Nikita looks like

Nikita is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nikita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nikita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nikita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nikita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nikita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nikita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nikita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
