Niunia

Female · Adult · 8 years

Niunia is a wonderful TTB-type dog who is fearful in the shelter's kennel, but as soon as she is away from the shelter's hustle and bustle, she becomes a joyful puppy. She is a bit reserved around strangers at first, but a treat is enough and she immediately offers her backside for petting and melts when scratched behind the ear. Walks with her are a pleasure, she walks calmly on a loose leash, and she immediately comes when called. She has no problem with traffic. Dogs she passes on walks are completely ignored, and those that seem interesting to her are calmly observed. We don't know how she behaves in direct contact with other dogs, but it's worth remembering that dogs of this breed like to mark their territory. In rooms, she explores everything at first, and when she's done, she's happy to sit on the couch next to a person seeking closeness. Niunia is looking for someone who will give her space and time at first, and will get a wonderful dog for walks and lounging on the couch.

PL·Show original

About Niunia

What life with Niunia looks like

Niunia is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Niunia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Niunia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Niunia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Niunia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Niunia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Niunia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Niunia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
