Nix

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Generalities: charming kitten with a soft white and black coat, illuminated by gentle light green eyes. She is vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Her name, Nix, recalls one of Pluto's moons, a small distant and mysterious celestial body: just like her, who still needs time to truly let herself be known. Personality: Nix is a frightened cat: she carries the consequences of years spent in difficult conditions, among overcrowding and lack of basic care. At the Monza cat shelter, with the staff and volunteers she sees regularly, she is slowly learning that human presence can be kind, respectful and caring. She is not aggressive: when she feels insecure, she prefers to withdraw and maintain distance. Today she observes, evaluates and, step by step, begins to open up. She needs time to feel safe: every progress, even the smallest, represents a great achievement for her. She is obviously not a "ready to adopt" cat, but a cat that, in the right context, can make great progress and build a deep and authentic bond. Ideal adoption: For Nix we are looking for a very quiet and stable environment, with adult, patient people and preferably experienced in handling shy cats. It is essential that whoever adopts her is aware that it will take time, consistency and delicate interactions, always respecting her rhythms. A single cat adoption is requested, in a setting without children, where she can finally build a relationship based on trust and predictability. available for adoption only in the province of Monza and Brianza and in the immediately adjacent municipalities. background: Nix was rescued in October 2025, along with numerous other cats, from a very complex situation of severe deprivation, in which adequate spaces, stimuli and individual attention were lacking for a long time. Following the sudden arrival of such a large number of animals, Nix and other companions in hardship had been temporarily transferred to another facility. Today she has returned to Monza, where she has finally begun a recovery and socialization process that we hope will lead her to find a permanent home, where she can live peacefully and cared for as she deserves.

About Nix

What life with Nix looks like

Nix is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at ENPA Monza e Brianza in Monza.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Monza e Brianza handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Monza e Brianza will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Monza e Brianza early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
