Nobel

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Nobel, a dog born in 2020, is a polite but still lost little dog. He arrived with us clearly scared and strongly disoriented. He was very afraid of what awaited him and where exactly he had ended up. Everything was new to him, and the barking of our dogs did not help. At first, we wanted to give him as much space and peace as possible so that he could at least begin to settle in. Over time, things did get better, and we could calmly pet him and conduct all necessary procedures. Recently, he even started barking, which indicates that he is beginning to pay attention. However, he remains cautious in his interactions with people and prefers to maintain a light distance. He can also easily be scared by something, which could have various outcomes. He needs further socialization and more time. Interestingly, he arrived in very good condition, even with a slight overweight. At his height of 14.5 kilograms, this is a proper weight. With more movement, this should stabilize. We do not have an excessive appetite, but this may still be related to his fear. We will also observe his relations with other dogs. He does not currently engage in conflicts, but we will see if this changes when he feels much more secure. We will also teach him to walk on a leash, as it does not come naturally to him, and it will make our care for him easier and increase his chances of adoption. A quick adoption for Nobel would be the most beneficial, preferably by someone with experience in settling dogs after "transitions." A warm home and caring attention can work wonders in such cases. Nobel certainly deserves a chance at a better life and we want him to quickly forget all the negative things that happened to him in the past. Will someone give him a wonderful home? Nobel is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Nobel, pies urodzony w 2020r. Nobel to grzeczny, ale jeszcze zagubiony psiaczek. Przyjechał do nas wyraźnie wystraszony i mocno zdezorientowany.

About Nobel

What life with Nobel looks like

Nobel is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nobel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nobel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nobel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nobel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nobel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nobel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nobel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
