Adopt Nolo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Nolo is eight years old (as of 06/2022), and therefore his chances of finding a loving family quickly are relatively low. That's more than unfortunate, because apart from the fact that he's no longer a puppy, Nolo is one of the friendliest and coolest dogs you can imagine. Nolo was found on the street by a young woman who immediately fell in love with the playful and affectionate male dog and invited him for dinner at her home. Of course, she did not put her new friend back on the street, but instead informed the animal welfare workers of Arca Sevilla about her find. The animal shelter of our friends is, as unfortunately always in summer, when the holidays begin, completely full and therefore it would have been difficult to take in Nolo, so he may now live with his rescuer as long as possible. Unfortunately, this is not a permanent solution due to professional and housing reasons - both would be very happy not to have to separate. The more beautiful it would be if Nolo could at least avoid the experience of an animal shelter and we could tell his friend that her stray had found a great family, where he will have many fantastic years ahead. Nolo is a clingy and funny Bodeguero who likes to use his clever terrier head to enchant all people who have anything to do with him. He loves long cuddles and prefers to be right in the middle rather than just on the side. Nolo doesn't like to be left alone at home - but he can be, once he has developed enough trust that his favorite person will come back. During walks, Nolo is a real gentleman. He behaves well on the leash, does not bark at other dogs, plays with new friends in the park and gives children a smile when he is stroked without fear and patiently. In the apartment, Nolo as a man of best age already gets a bit quieter. He likes to dream on the couch or in the dog bed, he is quiet and does not react to every noise from neighboring apartments. Nolo is really a perfect first dog, and if his age discourages you, please make yourself briefly aware that many of our terriers live happily and healthily up to 14 years and older - and our seniors have already successfully passed the phase of sharp puppy teeth and the phase of selective teenage hearing. Nolo wishes nothing more than a home where he can be part of the family and still have many fun days - and we wish that for him too!

About Nolo

What life with Nolo looks like

Nolo is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
