Born: 01.01.2015 Breed: Mixed-breed dog Sex: Male Neutered: Yes Origin: Sardinia Location: 56479 Hellenhahn-Schellenberg Shoulder height: 34 cm Weight: 10 kg Vaccinated: Yes Microchipped: Yes Mediterranean check: Negative Health issues: None known Good with males: Yes Good with females: Yes Cats: ????? Children: Yes Nonno, a fit and friendly senior dog, is sadly looking for a new final home. His person and best friend passed away before him. A pair of fit senior dogs sharing a home would be wonderful. Together they could enjoy pleasant walks, soak up the sunshine, and think about what else they might get up to. He is ready for it. Who's still out there? Please get in touch! Update from 25.06.2026: NONNO is a friendly older fellow who looks forward to every walk. He walks very well on the leash. Since he bonds quickly and closely with people, he doesn't need canine companions in his new home. He will certainly get along with an existing calmer dog, though. At the moment he is keeping the area busy together with the three dogs at his foster home. Even at his age, one can still learn new things: after only a few days he walks straight into the car and out again via a ramp. There is surely more he can learn. Luckily, all he is missing now is people who want to share their house and garden with him. Update from 18.09.2026: Nonno was on vacation in Denmark with his foster family. We are looking for a kind family with good dog experience who is willing to introduce him to his new life with love, patience, and a confident manner. Children should be at least of school age or have grown up with dogs. If you can offer Nonno this home, we would be glad to hear from you. Please also read our information on the

About Nonno

What life with Nonno looks like

Nonno is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at NiemandsHunde in Kerpen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nonno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nonno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. NiemandsHunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nonno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nonno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — NiemandsHunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nonno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nonno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with NiemandsHunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nonno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
