Swanny

Beagle · Female · Adult · 5 years

Swanny is a truly lovely little lady who has come to us from a breeder and has been quietly stealing hearts ever since. With her unmistakable Beagle nose, Swanny loves to explore her surroundings and see what’s going on around her. While she can still have a slightly shy side, her confidence has blossomed beautifully during her time with us, and her sweet, gentle nature really shines through. She ha sbecome people orientated and rather vocal which is lovely to see. Over the past few weeks, Swanny has made wonderful progress. She is now walking beautifully on the lead and thoroughly enjoys heading out for walks or having a run around our big yard, where she shows her playful and inquisitive side. She also does her best to keep her kennel clean during the day, which suggests that house training in a home environment should be very straightforward with a little routine and patience. Swanny gets on well with larger male dogs, particularly those who are calm, respectful, and able to give her the space she needs. She has shown us that she can feel overwhelmed if other dogs are too boisterous or in her face, so thoughtful introductions would be important. Thanks to her growing confidence, we now feel that Swanny could also live as an only dog in the right, understanding home where she can continue to thrive at her own pace or she can live with a larger, calm male dog. She cannot live with cats or small furries. As Swanny has never lived in a home before, she will need kind and patient adopters who can help her learn the routines of family life. She could share her home with dog-savvy teenagers who can appreciate and understand that she will need a gentle, quiet introduction to the home and her own space to settle in. With gentle guidance, consistency, and love, she is sure to settle quickly and become a devoted and affectionate companion. An active family who enjoy getting out and about would be ideal, as Swanny loves having both her mind and body kept busy. Swanny has cataracts in both eyes, which do not appear to bother her at all. She has had an umbilical hernia repaired at the time of her spay, along with two teeth extractions. She also has one fractured pre-molar, which our vets have advised leaving for now, though it may need monitoring in the future. Swanny also has a travel document in place. Swanny is an absolute delight to care for here at the rescue, and we truly believe that whoever opens their heart and home to her will be gaining a very special little dog who has so much love to give. Swanny has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Swanny

What life with Swanny looks like

Swanny is a large adult beagle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Never lived in a home before, needs patient introduction to family life

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Swanny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Swanny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Swanny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Swanny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Swanny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Swanny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Swanny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
