Norah

Mixed Breed · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Norah was already on the euthanasia list. Her gaze was sad, hopeless, directed into the void, as if she could sense the approaching end and was already taking leave. But at the last minute, she and her best friend, the Shepherd mix Dorah, were seen and saved by an animal rescuer. The two female dogs clung to each other in this dark place. A moment that gave Norah a second chance at life. And yet: the happy ending is still waiting. Norah has been waiting so long for her family… for love… for human attention… for a cozy home. The gentle female dog weighs a healthy 27 kg at shoulder height of 51 cm. Norah has a athletic, compact build, springy energy, and beautiful eyes that plead when she asks for something. The absolutely friendly, calm, and lovable soul longs for closeness and security, but also for playtime. Norah is a relaxed type, a bit less active than her friend Dorah, but just as clever, and we could easily imagine her participating in search games – but Norah also knows how to chill and relax. Despite everything she has experienced, she has not lost her faith in people. Norah gives everyone a cautious smile – in hope of finally being seen and invited. Norah is ready. Ready to trust. Ready to love. Ready to arrive. Norah needs a person who will show her that life is more than just worry and waiting. Norah has already shown so much patience. When can she finally live? Who will open their heart and home for Norah and give her the second chance she so deserves? For inquiries or questions, we look forward to your message – Norah eagerly awaits your response and asks every day with a heavy heart: was there even one interested in me? Please note:

About Norah

What life with Norah looks like

Norah is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
