adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Nougat has found a home! His story: Nougat lives up to his name: He is the only brown puppy among his siblings and simply adorable. What breeds are in him is still a mystery, but he is expected to be medium-sized. Only for sure: Nougat is an exciting mix that conquers hearts in a storm. His origin is unclear, but what matters most is that he and his four siblings are now in safety and enjoying their exciting puppyhood. Nougat shows himself as a true social lion: He is extremely friendly to people and gets along well with other dogs. Whether he knows cats is still unknown. A glimpse into the future: Whoever adopts Nougat should know that the coming months will be intensive relationship work. The puppyhood is incredibly sweet but also demanding—with little mishaps, sharp teeth, and an unbridled curiosity. Since Nougat is very people-oriented, he is reluctant to be alone and is happiest when close to his trusted people. In puberty, Nougat will surely test how far he can go. Rules will be questioned, hearing will be occasionally on "standby," and his special traits—whether hunting, herding, or simply cuddling drive—will come to the fore. This phase requires patience, loving consequences, and humor. Those who meet him with clarity and positive upbringing will be rewarded with a loyal, reliable lifelong companion. Nougat does not seek a couch potato but an active family willing to invest time and energy in his development. In return, he offers boundless affection and a life full of joy and adventure. Nougat travels of course microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home and brings his EU pet passport with him. Also, he would be very happy about the possibility of a foster home. A heartfelt thank you goes to Alicia—through her namesake sponsorship, Nougat received his wonderful name and the start of a happy dog life. As of: 15.10.

Stand: 15.10.2025

About Nougat

What life with Nougat looks like

Nougat is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nougat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nougat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nougat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nougat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nougat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nougat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nougat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
