Nova

Lurcher · Female · Puppy · 12 months

Our pretty brindle girl Nova is now ready to find her forever home. Nova is a 12 month old large and active young lurcher. She came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of her own. Nova needs an active home with the company of other dogs. Nova gets on well with dogs and has lived with large and medium breeds. We feel she would be too much for smaller breeds although she is fine with meeting them out and about. Nova walks really well on the lead for the majority of the time. However she does get very exited when seeing any dogs or people and especially children. Nova has lived around small children however she does not know her own size sometimes and is a bit clumsy. We feel she would be best suited living with children aged 6 and upwards that are used to living with large silly dogs. She cannot live with small furries or cats. Nova is the happiest most loving dog going and having lived in a home environment from a pup very quickly showed her diversity to embracing everything rescue life challenged her with. She loves everyone and everything and every new day is embraced with her usual joie de vivre. She doesn’t let anyone or anything hold her back. Nova would be best suited to a home with someone around all or most of the time especially in the beginning. She does still need some work on relaxing, regulating her emotions and learning that down time can be as fun as up time ! With a little work Nova is going to make the most wonderful girl. Nova is fully vaccinated, kc vaccinated, spayed, chipped, de wormed and de flead and will come with 5 weeks free insurance supplied by Agria. Nova is located in Stoke-on-Trent and anyone wishing to offer her a home would need to be willing to travel to meet her with all immediate members of the family and any current resident dogs. About Nova

What life with Nova looks like

Nova is a large puppy lurcher dog waiting at Greyhound Gap in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nova, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nova?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Greyhound Gap handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nova on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nova if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Greyhound Gap will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nova already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nova isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Greyhound Gap early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nova and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
