Nugget

Labrador Retriever Β· Female Β· Young Β· 3 years

When lovely Nugget warms to you, she adores a fuss and she is affectionate. She loves treats which makes for a good start to a friendship, and when she calls you β€˜family’, she’ll be a loyal and loving companion who you can share adventures with. Nugget enjoys playing with toys and her favourite is a soft duck toy. She is a clever girl who loves a food puzzle toy like a Kong, or a snuffle mat. Chicken and cheese are her favourite reward; she knows a sit, paw, and she responds to her name. Busy and built-up areas would be too overwhelming for her. Her favourite walks are woodlands or open fields; she loves hiking in the countryside and going to new locations before snuggling up on the sofa with you in the evenings. Pretty Nugget is a three-year-old female Lab cross Husky looking for a loving home. She is used to a quiet, rural environment without too many visitors to the home and would love to find a similar set up with lovely country walks away from heavy traffic. She is nervous of some strangers visiting her home and she is not one who is comfortable to visit pubs or cafes. Nugget would be best suited to be the only dog in the home. She is playful with other dogs and can be boisterous so would need suitable doggy pals to socialise with when out and about. Care may be needed around livestock, and that includes deer. Nugget will need a home without cats or small furries. She could share her home with upper secondary school aged children. She is housetrained and is happy to be left alone for a few hours at a time. Nugget enjoys traveling in the boot of the car to go on long, adventurous walks. She has lots of energy to put into action; lots of opportunities to sniff and engage her clever brain would be ideal.

About Nugget

What life with Nugget looks like

Nugget is a small young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nugget, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nugget?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nugget on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nugget if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nugget already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nugget isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nugget and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
