Adopt Alice

Labrador Retriever · Female · Adult · 5 years

Alice is a beautiful girl who has come to us from a breeder to find her forever home. When she first arrived, she found everything around her incredibly overwhelming and was a very nervous little lady. However, since settling into rescue life, Alice has been making such lovely progress and is slowly starting to show us the sweet and playful girl she truly is. She now gets excited when she sees her kennel mum and does the cutest little spins when she knows her food is coming, she simply can’t contain her excitement! She also absolutely loves playing with her kennel friends in the yard, and we’re now starting to see glimpses of her inner puppy. Alice has even begun chasing after a ball and will sometimes pick it up and proudly carry it around, which is such a joy to watch as her confidence continues to grow. Although Alice is doing brilliantly with the people she knows and trusts, she does still remain reserved around strangers. Because of this, Alice will need very patient, understanding adopters who are happy to give her all the time and space she needs to build trust and settle in at her own pace. Alice will be looking for a calm and quiet home environment with at least one kind, confident, and friendly resident dog to help guide her through the world and show her that life doesn’t have to be so scary. Ideally, this would be a dog around her age and size, as she is quite an active girl and definitely has a playful side just waiting to blossom. As Alice has never lived in a home environment before, her adopters will need to support her as she learns all about everyday life, including house training, lead walking, and getting used to handling and affection. She still finds touch and handling worrying at times, so she will need adopters who are gentle, compassionate, and willing to work at her pace. Alice is such a sweet girl who is simply searching for a loving home where she can continue building her confidence, feel safe and secure, and finally enjoy all the patience, kindness, and love she so truly deserves. Alice has come to us with generalised alopecia across her body, which should improve and grow back with time. She also had a cyst on her last mammary gland, which was drained during her spay surgery. Alice has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Alice

What life with Alice looks like

Alice is a adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Alice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Alice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Alice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Alice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Alice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Alice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Alice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
