Adopt Nun

Mixed Breed · Female

Just when it seemed everything was moving towards a good outcome, fate dealt another blow. During a routine check, fluid was detected accumulating around Nun's heart. The kitten was gaining weight, regaining her appetite, and beginning to enjoy life again... yet within her tiny body, a huge battle was being waged. An immediate cardiological consultation confirmed the worst fears. Nun suffers from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - a severe, incurable heart disease. Prognosis is very poor. It's a miracle she's still functioning without obvious symptoms. Her heart is working weakly and irregularly. Additionally, fluid is collecting around her heart, making its work even more difficult. A blood clot could occur at any moment, and that would be fatal. Nun received medication, but no one can say how much time she has left. One thing is certain: she cannot go back to the cage. She deserves warmth, human presence, and a sense of security. She deserves someone to tell her that she is loved in her last days - or weeks. Nun is blind, but she manages well. She usually hits the litter box - almost always, with the litter she mostly gets right... but does that matter compared to the drama happening inside her tiny body? The cat was once abandoned by a human. It's hard to understand what was wrong with her: loss of sight? Imperfections? Illness, which no one even knew about then? Today she only needs one thing - someone who won't turn their gaze away. This cat's FIV status applies — see shelter for details.

Jej serce pracuje słabo i nieregularnie. Testy FIV / FELV ujemne

About Nun

What life with Nun looks like

Nun is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
