Adopt Nyra

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 9 months

NYRA came from a litter. She arrived with her sister to one yard, which wasn't much better. They lived there feral, in a brothel, without socialization and without good care. The outside world was scary for them. The first days were tough. She was very afraid of everything, including people. But time showed her that life could be better, and eventually she began to trust us. Now it's time to move forward. NYRA is very sweet and affectionate. She no longer fears people and delights in them. And as she gets to know her new person, she won't move an inch from them. 🙂 However, she is very afraid of new things. Her reaction is "panic and flight." Safety harnesses and double containment will definitely be necessary while she gets used to her new environment and its demands. She gets along very well with other dogs. She wants to be a friend to everyone and wants to play with everyone. 🙂 Nyra is a beautiful mini wolf-dog. She has excellent hygiene. With the right guidance and training, she will be the best doggy buddy. We prefer a home with another dog as a companion. She is suitable for an apartment or a home with year-round access. She will go to her new home vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She is in the our shelter in Švábovci near Poprad.

Žili tam nadivoko, v bordeli, bez socializácie a bez dobrej starostlivosti.

About Nyra

What life with Nyra looks like

Nyra is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Cesta za domovom in Slovakia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nyra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nyra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cesta za domovom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nyra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nyra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cesta za domovom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nyra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nyra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cesta za domovom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nyra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
