Oakley

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Origin Country: Hungary Oakley was found homeless on December 17, 2025, in the city of Nagykörös. As seen in the entrance photos, Oakley was in complete panic, wanting to be invisible, and could only be secured with a leash, which is very traumatic for dogs. Of course, Oakley did not have a chip. Oakley shares the same fate as many shelter dogs who, because they are no longer wanted, end up on the streets. We are holding our breath that he will soon win his ticket to happiness and leave the Menhely behind. At first, Oakley was very shaken. How should he know where he landed and that no one wants to harm him? Since he has come out of quarantine, he has completely transformed and is no longer recognizable. He is ready for the adventure of a new life. Oakley is a loving, friendly, lively, and agile dogman who can sometimes be a bit stormy with joy. His temperament and willingness to learn must now be guided into the right paths so that he can continue to develop into a great companion, and he already brings good prerequisites for that. He already runs well on the leash, of course, is still trainable, and will certainly have the dog ABC under loving guidance. Oakley wants to be mentally and physically challenged and fostered, and what other talents he may have slumbering inside him, his new people will get to discover. Oakley gets along well with his fellow animals. For our wonderful Oakley, we are looking for adventure-loving, dog-experienced, and loving people who can give Oakley everything he probably has never experienced before: love, care, security, safety, and 100% family connection. He should finally feel that he is worth something and that there are people who take care of him and who he means something to. He should finally get to experience how it is to enjoy long and exciting walks daily, to be adequately exercised, and to live his life happily, carefree, and protected as a full-fledged family member. Oakley has a slight underbite. With whom can Oakley enter a great partnership? On March 15, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Oakley came into the care of the animal shelter in December 2025. He was anxious and insecure. In March 2026, he was allowed to go for a walk with his mentor on the mentor day. Oakley is now a happy, loving, friendly, and sweet dog. He was happy to be able to go for a walk and enjoyed every minute of it. He is active and enthusiastic, with a great desire for love and also for learning. He runs nicely on the leash. During the walk, he enjoyed the stroking and affection of the mentors. He has a doggy friend with whom he lives in a run and also went for walks together. According to his data sheet, he gets along well with female dogs." Oakley is ready for travel.

DE·Show original

About Oakley

What life with Oakley looks like

Oakley is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oakley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oakley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oakley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oakley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oakley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oakley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oakley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
