Xaphira

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Native Country: Hungary The beautiful Xaphira was found homeless wandering around the village of Orgovany on March 25, 2026, and reported to the animal shelter. Why Xaphira was traveling alone will remain a mystery, as she was not missed and no microchip was found. It still baffles us, despite the mandatory microchip law in Hungary for many years now.... Xaphira is now waiting "behind bars" for the chance to travel into a new, happy life and go through thick and thin with her people. Despite everything, Xaphira is a friendly, loving, gentle, and very people-loving female dog, albeit a bit shy at first. Once she gains trust, she enjoys every bit of attention, petting, and affection, and Xaphira would love more of it, as she likely had to go without for a long time. She needs a lot of love and closeness. She wants to go on adventures with her people, learn new things, and lead a happy dog life, simply to make up for everything she missed. On the leash, Xaphira runs quite well, but she is still trainable, and as a clever female dog who wants to please, she will likely understand the dog ABC quickly, and it will be fun to practice, train, and spend time with her. She gets along well with her fellow animals and is currently (April 21, 2026) integrated into a mixed pack. For our beloved Xaphira, we are looking for active and sensitive people who will give Xaphira time to settle in. They will then mentally and physically challenge her, enjoy being outdoors with their four-legged friend, have lots of love, care, and security for Xaphira, and warmly welcome her into their family forever. Whoever gives this female dog their time and love will receive a faithful lifelong companion. With whom should Xaphira start the next chapter of her life? Xaphira seems to have an old fracture on the hind leg, a veterinary appointment is scheduled, and an update will follow. April 23, 2026: She has an older intertarsal fracture of the left hind leg. Fixed condition. Good mobility of the leg. No operation is necessary. Xaphira can travel from around mid/end of May 2026 if she finds a home or a foster home.

DE·Show original

About Xaphira

What life with Xaphira looks like

Xaphira is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Xaphira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Xaphira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Xaphira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Xaphira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Xaphira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Xaphira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Xaphira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
