Odin

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Odin is a gentle soul who needs someone willing to give him the time and understanding to show just how lovely he can be. He is naturally an anxious boy, so building a bond with Odin can take time. He needs an adopter who understands that trust is earned gradually – someone willing to learn his body language, give him patience and help him navigate the things he finds uncertain. Alongside patience, Odin really benefits from positive training and clear, consistent guidance. With someone willing to understand what makes him tick and gently encourage him forward, we believe he has so much potential to grow in confidence and thrive. Behind that shyness is an incredibly sweet boy who is already starting to shine through. Odin will gently sit beside you and lean in for affection, and he’ll retrieve his toys before carefully dropping them beside you, inviting you to join in. With each passing day, we’re seeing a little more of that shy boy come out of his shell – and those little moments of trust make the journey incredibly rewarding. Odin could also benefit from living alongside another dog. A confident, well-balanced canine companion could help show him the day-to-day routines of home life and give him reassurance as he settles in. However, the right match is important. Odin naturally allows other dogs to take the lead, so we would be looking for a friendly, non-dominant dog who can give him confidence without overwhelming him or making it harder for him to build a strong relationship with his new family. Odin isn’t looking for someone who expects an instant best friend. He’s looking for someone who will take the time to become one.

About Odin

What life with Odin looks like

Odin is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Just for Dogs (East Midlands) in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Just for Dogs (East Midlands) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Just for Dogs (East Midlands) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Just for Dogs (East Midlands) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
