Ogonek

Male · Young · 1 year

Here is Ogonek – a one-year-old, lively and sweet pup whose curiosity knows no bounds! Every rustle of leaves, every movement in the grass is a new, fascinating adventure for him. On walks, he observes everything around him – from other dogs to sparrows and the tiniest sounds in the forest. This sensitive and increasingly open pup to humans – once preferred to observe from a distance, but now he runs up to greet, asking for attention and support or joining in for some shared fun. He adores being petted, though on walks, it's hard to keep him in one place – he immediately runs off to sniff something or check out what's behind the corner. He's a wise and perceptive pup with a great learning potential. Ogonek is an ideal companion for people who love to actively spend their time and dream of a friend ready for shared adventures. He will surely repay loyalty, tenderness, and a huge amount of joy. He is also a young pup who has seen little of life, and what he has experienced probably wasn't the happiest – he can be unsure of himself and lost in situations that are difficult for him, then he stands helplessly or tries to "blow off" stress, needing support and guidance from a human. Ogonek is curious about other dogs, very excited by them, and drawn to them, but he's getting better at direct contact. His relationships with other dogs still require work, but we can see a significant progress in Ogonka's behavior. Ogonek had the opportunity to participate in the Adopt a Warsaw Dog campaign, and we must admit that he pleasantly surprised us. He sprang into the bus with enthusiasm. He wasn't stressed at all, but it was hard for him to sit still because he was very interested in the other dogs on the bus. Getting to the location after the bus was very difficult – a narrow sidewalk, many dogs, runners, and cars. Ogonek never got scared, didn't bark, or fuss. The volunteer watched over him, but he walked quite boldly. At the location, he quickly charmed both people and other dogs. He snuggled up, allowed petting, and greeted the other dogs nicely, even trying to play with a few. For Ogonka, we are looking for a peaceful, patient, and understanding home, open to working with a young pup who still has a lot to learn and needs training and support from a caregiver; someone who has the time and desire for training, play, and long walks with a young dog. We recommend Ogonka to a peaceful home without small children, in an area with interesting places for walks. Due to Ogonka's uncertainty in the adoption process, we recommend a pre-adoption visit to see how he settles into a home and potential neighborhood. If Ogonek were to be placed in a home with another pet, an introduction to the resident would be required.

Dziarsko wskoczył do autobusu. Polecamy Ogonka do domu spokojnego, bez małych dzieci, w okolicy z ciekawymi miejscami do spacerowania.

About Ogonek

What life with Ogonek looks like

Ogonek is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Young dog with limited life experience, needs patient training and socialization work

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ogonek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ogonek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ogonek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ogonek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ogonek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ogonek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ogonek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
