Oisín

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Oisín is a lovely 4 year old lad whose owners have had to make this really hard decision to find him a new home as a matter of urgency because of ill health in the family. Their wish would be that their lovely boy go to a good home, to be safe, cared for and loved and relish life, he's affectionate, loyal, funny, obedient and a playful, lovely boy. Around dogs he is very friendly, they sadly lost their Airedale terrier who died in the summer and ever since he's been fretting. He is happiest with another dog at home for company and companionship. Oisín is fine around children, very friendly, he’s been living with children 7 years and above. he has a decent recall for his owner, but tends to ignore his daughter when she walks Oisín, he’s usually too busy playing and having fun to come back to her. he follows his dad around everywhere and does everything that’s asked of him. Ut he isn’t always as obedient for other people so that bond would need to be built up with time and training. Oisín loves going out places with his owner and travels very well in the boot of the car on his bed. He hasn’t been tested around livestock so careful introductions would be needed. We do know that he isn’t to be trusted around cats and would chase them. He can be left for 2-3 hours but does get upset and whine when left at home, he is crate trained but is usually left with the run of the ground floor so that he can sleep in his bed or open crate. Oisín is neutered and vaccinated until May 2024, he’s fed Barking Heads hypoallergenic food twice a day, which he loves and is a healthy, happy boy. Oisín loves going on long walks and adventures, but is also happy curled up on his bed having a snooze. Oisín is currently in the Newcastle area and will be rehomed with his 5 weeks free Agria Insurance and our Adoption Contract. If you feel you can offer this gorgeous boy the company and affection that he loves, please contact us. About Oisín

What life with Oisín looks like

Oisín is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at GSP Rescue UK in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oisín, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oisín?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GSP Rescue UK handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oisín on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oisín if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GSP Rescue UK will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oisín already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oisín isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GSP Rescue UK early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oisín and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
