Adopt Ole

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

At first reserved, friendly, playful, and compatible The handsome Ole has made a few friends and made the long journey from Romania to us, where he is now on the lookout for his own people – with a little help from us of course. He is already no small dog and will still grow, but is rather the slender type. Ole had the great fortune and was temporarily placed in a foster home, where he lived with other dogs and was already introduced to the 1x1 of the Dog King and got a glimpse of human everyday life. Ole does all of this wonderfully and impresses his foster parent every day. He is a brave little guy who is already house-trained and has learned that the vacuum cleaner doesn’t want to eat him and that the people on TV aren’t real – even at his foster mom’s workplace, he has already sniffed around to see if an office dog might be his future. Ole observes his environment very attentively – some might even describe him as watchful; ) On the leash, he is still afraid of many things and can’t always decide whether to bark or flee. But here, he is already receiving expert support, and initial progress is already visible. So, in summary, he is well socialized, playful, ravenous, sleepy, funny, cute, sometimes brave, sometimes afraid, and sometimes also a little annoying monster – typical puppy, really. Ole wishes for his own people who can give him affectionately, but consistently, structure, and guidelines. We wish for the little guy people with a good understanding of dogs, plenty of time, and empathy, who know what they are getting into with a young puppy. A pre-existing dog buddy would certainly greatly please him. Small children should not live in Oles family. Anyone who would like to meet Ole can contact his foster parent for a meet-and-greet appointment. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Ole

What life with Ole looks like

Ole is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt in Essen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ole, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ole?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ole on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ole if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ole already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ole isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ole and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
