Adopt Oli-4

Male · Senior · 12 years

Origin Country: Hungary Oli, the wonderbeaut, was found wandering on the autobahn on August 4, 2024. Thankfully, attentive people informed the animal shelter, and we can't imagine the danger Oli was in. He was fortunately unharmed when rescued from this dangerous place. We don't know whether Oli wandered onto the autobahn by himself or was intentionally left there. Although he was microchipped, he was not registered, and no one was looking for him. Oli, another Shepherd mix at the animal shelter, which has a hard time finding a home. We are crossing our fingers that Oli will soon join the happy dogs who have secured their new homes. Oli is a loving, kind, and friendly dog who enjoys spending time and attention, and he also loves cuddles. He likely had a life as a farm dog and, now that he's older, he's no longer wanted. Senior dogs, however, need a lot of love and affection and should be pampered and cared for. Oli can already walk well on a leash and, with loving guidance, he will learn a few more things from the dog ABC. Oli wants to explore the world and make up for lost time. Even though he is over ten years old, he is not yet old iron and is still quite lively and curious. He gets along well with his fellow animals but doesn't really need them to be happy. Update from September 19, 2025: Oli lives alone in a kennel. He gets along with female dogs but with male dogs, it depends on their liking. We are urgently seeking hound-loving and dog-experienced people who will also give a chance to a senior dog. Oli shouldn't have to live in a run; he should have a soft dog bed, plenty of cuddles and snuggles, long walks through the woods and fields, and simply enjoy his life, knowing he is loved and cared for—perhaps the first time in his life. A wonderful four-legged friend is waiting for his people with whom he can enjoy his golden years! A shelter worker writes: "Oli is a nice, cute dog who loves people and walks on a leash." Update from July 23, 2025: Oli has a knot under his armpit. Since he is in the Slowkill therapy, he should not be operated on. Therefore, a biopsy was taken, which was benign. Once Oli completes the Slowkill therapy and is worm-free, the knot will be surgically removed, as will the testicle located in his abdomen. Update from November 7, 2025: Oli has successfully completed the Slowkill therapy and is now worm-free. Update from November 11, 2025: The testicle located in his abdomen was removed. The benign growth has disappeared, and the shelter veterinarian suspects it was an immunization reaction. Oli is now travel-ready.

About Oli-4

What life with Oli-4 looks like

Oli-4 is a senior dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oli-4, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oli-4?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oli-4 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oli-4 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oli-4 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oli-4 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oli-4 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
