Olimpia

Female · Adult · 6 years

Olimpia – a gentle heart is looking for its place on earth Olimpia came to us in very poor condition – neglected, with a patchy coat and sore skin. Today she is a different dog – her fur is slowly growing back, her skin is healing, and each day she is blossoming more and more. She is an extremely gentle, loving and friendly girl who loves human closeness. When she sees familiar people, she is overjoyed, and affection is her greatest support and reward. Olimpia is still learning life – walking on a leash is a challenge for her, so she mostly goes out on the arms of volunteers. When placed on grass, she often freezes in fear, sometimes gathers her courage and takes a few steps. However, we know that with patient caregivers and a calm home, she will make great progress. A house with a garden would be ideal for her, where she can slowly get used to her new reality. Dog companionship is welcome – from another dog she could learn about walks and household routines. She needs patient, warm people who will show her that the world is not so scary. Olimpia has already won the hearts of many of us – now it's time for her to find her people forever. Will you help her take this step?

PL·Show original

About Olimpia

What life with Olimpia looks like

Olimpia is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Recovering from neglect, needs patient leash training, fearful of walking on grass

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olimpia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olimpia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olimpia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olimpia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olimpia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olimpia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olimpia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
