Adopt OLINA

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Bojínek and companion. Will need someone who can handle her psyche. OLINA is about six years old, a crossbreed of a Sharpe and a jackal. She is a small dog, around 12 kg. At first she is frightened by new people and a new environment - she will try to run away, hide, not be with anyone or anything. Her acclimation to the new environment is slower, so don't expect progress in days, but rather in the range of 3-4 weeks. Olinka is not primarily aggressive, if she can, she rather hides away or freezes. Even though she may react to new stimuli with a display of fear. It's just a dog that carries some trauma from the past. It won't be a champion for sports, or training, but it will be the type of dog that will be a companion for walks (she will walk a lot! :) and then rest on the couch watching TV. When you get to know Olinka and there is at least some trust, she has no problem with handling (even at the vet). She currently does not master the challenge of contact from a person - calling, luring, reaching out from movement. She does not cope with being alone inside - she hyperventilates, screams. If however, she is in the presence of another (balanced) dog, she is much calmer. If let out into the yard, she can take care of her own business completely calmly. Overall, she likes being outside. We do not recommend her to an unbalanced dog. We also do not recommend her to larger households. An ideal home for her would be a single person, maximum two members. OLINKA IS CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE IN ROŽDALOVICE (Nymburk district), not directly in the shelter.

Bojínek a asociálek. Nedporučujeme ji ani do početnějších domácností. About OLINA

What life with OLINA looks like

OLINA is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Dogpoint in Malotice-Kostelec nad Černými lesy.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Frequently asked

Adopting OLINA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about OLINA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogpoint handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw OLINA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt OLINA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogpoint will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is OLINA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if OLINA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogpoint early rather than rehoming privately; they know OLINA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
