Olive

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Β· Female Β· Young Β· 2 years

πŸ“ Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Age: 2 years Sex: Female Good with dogs? Yes. Olive needs to live with at least one suitable resident dog who can continue helping her build confidence. Good with cats? Not tested Good with children? Olive is shy around small children and would be better suited to older, respectful children. Time able to be left alone: Short periods only, such as for errands. Olive is a beautiful 2-year-old Cavalier who came into rescue from a breeding establishment and is now learning what life as a much-loved companion dog can be. She has settled well into foster care and is slowly gaining confidence. Olive loves to follow her foster mum everywhere, accompanied by the constant pitter-patter of her tiny feet, and she is happiest when she can stay close to the people she trusts. She enjoys curling up beside her foster mum on the sofa and loves snuggling up in bed at night. Human company is very important to Olive, and she is looking for a home where someone is around for most of the day. Olive is beginning to enjoy her walks and has even started making little squeaks of excitement when she knows she is going out. She can still be nervous when unfamiliar people or dogs pass by, but with reassurance she is making lovely progress. She gets on very well with the resident dogs in her foster home and takes a great deal of confidence from them. When her foster mum is busy, Olive will often cuddle up with her doggy foster brothers and sisters for reassurance and companionship. Because of how much support she gains from other dogs, Olive must live with at least one suitable, confident resident dog in her forever home. A resident dog will be an important part of helping her continue to grow in confidence. Olive can be left for short periods, such as while her adopter runs errands, but she is not suitable for a home where she would routinely be left for long periods. At just 5.8kg, Olive is a very small Cavalier and is often mistaken for a puppy. Despite her tiny size, there is a brave little character starting to emerge. She is beginning to show signs of wanting to be bolder and will sometimes try to run after her doggy foster brother. She is shy around small children and needs a calm home where she will not feel overwhelmed. Older, respectful children who understand that Olive needs space and time may be considered. Olive is also a little anxious when travelling in the car. She copes much better when she can travel in a secure dog bed or car seat beside her human, where she feels reassured and safe. She has not been tested with cats, so we cannot confirm whether she could safely live with them. Olive needs a patient and understanding home that will give her time to reach her full potential. She is already showing glimpses of the confident little dog she could become and, with the right support, we are sure she will make a wonderful addition to her forever family. πŸ‘οΈ Dry eye: Olive has been diagnosed with dry eye and will need to continue treatment with Optimmune for this in her new home. ❀️ Heart: Olive is currently heart clear. βœ… Other health conditions: No other known health issues at present. βœ‚οΈ Spayed? Yes. Olive has been spayed while in foster care. Her adopter will need to continue her prescribed eye treatment and routine veterinary monitoring. 🐾 Behaviour traits: Gentle, affectionate, sensitive, people-focused and increasingly confident. Olive loves being close to her humans and takes reassurance from other dogs. 🎾 Activity level: Moderate – Olive is beginning to enjoy her walks and is becoming increasingly enthusiastic about getting out and about. πŸ“š Training required: Continued confidence building, gentle lead walking, positive exposure to unfamiliar people and dogs, and patient support in new situations. 🏑 Type of home required: A calm, patient and understanding home with at least one confident resident dog. Olive needs someone around for most of the day who is happy to let her progress at her own pace and continue gently building her confidence. πŸ“© Apply for Olive here:

About Olive

What life with Olive looks like

Olive is a very small young adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Bliss Cavalier Rescue in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olive, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olive?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bliss Cavalier Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olive on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olive if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Bliss Cavalier Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Olive already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olive isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bliss Cavalier Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olive and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
