Adopt Olive

Maltese · Female · Young · 2 years

02-06-25 Olive is a sweet little lady who has come to us from a breeder and is finding the world a little overwhelming at the moment. She can be timid and unsure of new people, but with patience, kindness, and understanding, we are sure she will begin to blossom. Olive absolutely adores her kennel friends and loves the company of other dogs. Because of this, she will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home that she can lean on for reassurance as she learns to trust and settles into family life. Having never lived in a home before, Olive will need patient adopters who can gently teach her about house training, household routines, and all the comforts that come with having a family of her own. Walking on a lead may feel a little too scary for her initially, so a gentle introduction to the outside world in a secure garden would be the perfect place for her to start building confidence at her own pace. She can live with older dog savvy teens who respect her space as she settles in. Olive is looking for an understanding home that will give her all the love, patience, and reassurance she deserves. In return, she has every chance of becoming a devoted companion once she learns that the world can be a safe and happy place. This lovely girl has so much potential and simply needs a family willing to give her the time and TLC she needs to thrive. Olive has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Olive

What life with Olive looks like

Olive is a young adult maltese dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olive, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olive?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olive on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olive if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olive already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olive isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olive and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
