Olivia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Labrador mixed breed Olivia – finally here and ready for her own happiness Olivia was able to move to a foster home in Germany – and there she shows more and more what a wonderful female dog she actually is. After her long time in the Spanish animal shelter, where she waited day by day to be seen, she can now experience a piece of family life for the first time. And Olivia does it wonderfully. Her foster family describes her as uncomplicated and pleasant company. Olivia is house-trained, sleeps bravely in her dog bed at night, and has quickly adapted to the everyday routine. She loves cuddles very much, enjoys being close, and simply wants to be part of it. She likes to be everywhere. Even outdoors, she shows her relaxed side: Olivia walks wonderfully on a leash, meets other dogs friendly and social, and shows herself to be unafraid and calm. She apparently doesn’t have a strong prey drive. Instead of big adventures, Olivia prefers comfortable walks and shared time with her people. She gets along well with other dogs – even on the walk, everything goes smoothly. The alone time works out well at the foster home with the other dogs as well. The Labrador in her is clearly recognizable – albeit in a more manageable size. Friendly, people-oriented, uncomplicated, and simply wants to be right in the middle of things instead of just being there. Her foster family can imagine Olivia well with slightly older people or with people who don’t look for a dog for top athletic performance but for a faithful companion for everyday life. Unfortunately, the sweetness has a health limitation: Olivia limps right after getting up – here she warms up after a few minutes – or after a longer walk. Currently, it is being observed whether there might be an age- or joint-related cause behind it. We will update as soon as the reasons are definitively clarified. We know that health questions often make adoptions harder. But they do not change who Olivia is: an incredibly loving female dog who has been patient for so long and can now finally show what a great companion is in her. Olivia has waited long enough. Now she just needs one thing: people who don’t overlook her because of small questions but choose her because of her big heart.

DE·Show original

About Olivia

What life with Olivia looks like

Olivia is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olivia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olivia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olivia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olivia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olivia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olivia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olivia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
