Olli

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

📍 Current Location: Lower Austria Olli is a neutered mixed-breed male dog born in January 2020, who was found abandoned as a puppy together with his sister Angie in Serbia and taken in by an animal shelter there. They now live together in Lower Austria. He is a cheerful, playful puppy who bonds extremely quickly with his trusted people and is a real cuddle bear. He adores his Frauerl and looks at her with devoted eyes. Quick movements or loud noises still unsettle him, and he may start barking, but he calms down quickly. He is active and enjoys long walks, but barking dogs at the fence scare him. Generally, he is leash-friendly, but in stressful situations or sudden tugs on the leash, he reacts hectically and rolls over on his back. At home, he prefers to be near his people and can then relax well. He responds perfectly to recall, is obedient, and house-trained, though there may still be occasional accidents in the beginning. He is absolutely compatible with peaceful and non-stormy fellow animals, as well as cats. His greatest wish would be a shared home with his sister Angie, as the two are one heart and one soul, hang very much on each other, support each other in new situations, and like to play together. Since Olli is afraid of men, we are looking for a female household for the two siblings. Walks well on a leash.

About Olli

What life with Olli looks like

Olli is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Austria in Wien.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
