Adopt Olli und Marvis

Mixed Breed · Male · 4 years

Olli (tiger-striped) and Marvis (red-white) have become friends at our animal shelter and have been searching for a shared home together for several years. Since both are tomcats that tested positive for FIV, only apartment living is suitable for them, as we do not want to risk transmission to other cats. A secured balcony, winter garden, or similar would be a great addition. Olli was admitted to us in 2021 as a found cat, after being sighted and regularly fed over the course of a year. At that time, he suffered from a fracture of the front leg, which was operated on immediately and has long since healed. Unfortunately, during his stay with us, it was discovered that the affected front leg had arthrotic changes and is therefore more prone to fractures. So far, he manages well and only occasionally needs supportive pain medication. Olli needs a moment to acclimate to a new environment and to build trust with strangers. Once he has settled in, he is always eager to be part of the action and observes what is happening. Marvis was admitted to us in 2022 due to a care case. At times, he suffered from an eosinophilic granuloma, which fortunately responded well to treatment and no longer causes any problems. Like Olli, Marvis took a while to build trust with people upon his arrival and to accept offers of closeness and attention. Nowadays, he has become an open and particularly inquisitive tomcat who is always right in the middle of things. Both Olli and Marvis are not typical cuddly cats. While both also seek some affection from their familiar people—Marvis especially craves closeness at times—their main enthusiasm lies in other forms of mental stimulation. For example, they are very playful and love action. Motivated by food, they can certainly learn a few tricks or be kept occupied with search games and similar activities. For Olli and Marvis, we wish for a home where they are given enough time to settle in, where they are appreciated for their active and lively nature, and where they receive ample attention. Other pets and small children should not be part of their future home. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Olli und Marvis

What life with Olli und Marvis looks like

Olli und Marvis is a medium-sized adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Wiesbaden in Wiesbaden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: FIV positive - indoor only housing required. Olli has arthritis in front leg requiring occasional pain medication.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olli und Marvis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olli und Marvis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wiesbaden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olli und Marvis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olli und Marvis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wiesbaden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olli und Marvis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olli und Marvis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wiesbaden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olli und Marvis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
