Adopt O´Malley

First, this fancy find kitten only got his name for optical reasons… But quickly it became clear that our O´Malley lives up to his namesake from Disney’s “Aristocats” when it comes to ego. For example, he sings: “So I’m just myself on the begging tour. If anyone bothers me, I just show them my paw. (…) For O´Malley the Sunnyboy.” And our Sunnyboy is very similar. Upon his arrival, he was under constant tension, which unfortunately made dealing with him at the animal shelter quite challenging. He was a really nice companion and desperately wanted the attention of people, only he didn’t quite know how to treat us without hurting us… But with the arrival of tomcat Philipp, with whom he now shares a room, his behavior has changed significantly! In his exuberance, he would previously always jump on people and want to wrestle. This can also be done “for fun” and is not at all funny for us humans… But now he has Philipp as a wrestling buddy, so the mail is off! This means that he is now much more balanced and friendly. O´Malley can now enjoy cuddles and even demands them. One must still keep a close eye on his body language because he can still be “funny” at times, but for cat enthusiasts, that shouldn’t be a problem. His unsavoriness has also improved, which was due to a bladder infection that has now been treated. ;-). Ideally, we would like to find a new home for Philipp and O´Malley together, so they have their perfect feline companion right by their side and don’t have to vent their energy on us humans. O´Malley needs unrestricted roam time, and we could imagine him, or both of them, on a farm. Unfortunately, small children and dogs cannot safely cohabitate with him. This cat needs outdoor access.

Zuerst bekam dieser schicke Fundkater seinen Namen nur der Optik wegen…Doch schnell zeigte sich, dass unser O´Malley seinem Namensgeber von Disneys „Aristocats“ auch in Sachen Ego in nichts nachsteht ;-) Er singt zum Beispiel: „So hab‘ ich nur mich selbst auf der Tippel-Tour. Stört mich wer, dem zeige ich meine Pfote nur. (…) Für O´Malley den Sunnyboy“ Und unser Sunnyboy ist da sehr ähnlich. Bei seinem Einzug stand er unter Dauerspannung, was den Umgang mit ihm im Tierheim leider nicht sehr einfach machte. Ein wirklich schöner Geselle und er will auch dringend die Aufmerksamkeit der Menschen haben, nur weiß er leider dann nicht so recht, wie er uns behandeln kann, ohne uns zu verletzen….Aber durch den Einzug von Kater Philipp, mit dem er sich nun ein Zimmer teilt, hat sich sein Verhalten deutlich verändert! In seinem Übermut sprang er zuvor den Menschen immer mal an und wollte Raufen. Das tut auch „aus Spaß“ sehr weh und ist für uns Menschen gar nicht lustig… Aber jetzt hat er Philipp als Raufkumpel, da geht die Post ab! Heißt aber, dass er nun viel ausgeglichener und umgänglicher geworden ist. Mittlerweile kann O´Malley Streicheleinheiten genießen und fordert diese auch ein. Man muss immenroch ein Auge auf seine Körpersprache haben, weil er bisweilen doch nochmal „lustig“ wird, aber für Katzenkenner sollte das kein Problem sein. Seine Unsauberkeit hat sich nun auch gelegt, Grund war eine Blasenentzündung, die nun behandelt wurde ;-) Idealerweise suchen wir für Philipp und O´Malley gemeinsam ein neues Zuhause, damit sie ihren perfekten Katzenkumpel gleich an ihrer Seite haben und ihre Energie nicht an uns Menschen ausleben müssen. O´Malley braucht zwingend Freigang, wir könnten uns ihn, bzw. die beiden, auch auf einem Hof vorstellen. Kleine Kinder und Hunde können leider nicht sicher mit ihm zusammenwohnen.
