Ono

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Ono - the handsome boy ❤️ The handsome Ono now lives with us and finally gets the chance to learn step by step with professional help and understand what makes life fun. He is worked with lovingly and consistently and learns very quickly how a normal dog life works. Ono is a young handsome male still in puberty with some characteristics of a livestock guardian mix. He is very sensitive and binds closely to "his" person. The young dog already responds to some basic commands, even in the run he is totally happy. But otherwise he knows nothing, Ono is still very suspicious of strangers. He needs a lot of time to get to know and must first learn to let himself be taken by new people. Ono came to Germany as an open and dear puppy. Unfortunately, however, he was not socialized with other dogs in his previous family. He has fear aggression and reacts aggressively at first to many things, especially to other dogs. He knows and accepts wearing a muzzle - this is important, as he still shows enormous uncertainties outside when encountering dogs and it is a challenge. He must learn that conspecifics do not mean it badly with him. Ono is not a beginner dog, he needs people with dog experience and knowledge of his needs. The young dog needs clear, fair rules and loving guidance to get security. There should be willingness to work with muzzle, management and training, preferably in a positively working dog school. He is very intelligent, sensitive and willing to work - but not with everyone. Suitable would be dog-experienced people who can read his body language, give him support and give him the time to adjust to new situations. With the right support he develops further and shows his loving nature. A quiet, structured household without a lot of hustle and bustle with a fenced garden would be ideal.

About Ono

What life with Ono looks like

Ono is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ono, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ono?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ono on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ono if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ono already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ono isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ono and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
