Adopt Oscar

Male · Adult · 8 years

EAST SUSSEX 8 years old Male, black and tan smooth mini Neutered Adoption fee for Oscar is £250 Oscar is a sweet-natured and friendly dachshund looking for a new home because sadly due to a change in his family’s circumstance, they are having to travel overseas on a regular basis and although trying various options for Oscar, they feel he needs routine and consistency and someone who is there to give him the quality of life he deserves. Oscar is an IVDD warrior. He had surgery in 2023 and has had two episodes since then but both of these were managed with pain relief and crate rest with the last one occurring more than a year ago. He is now fully recovered, however it is important that he is not allowed to climb stairs or jump up and down onto sofas. Oscar is affectionate and loving with the people he knows. He loves to play with toys and is very efficient at destroying them! He hasn’t lived with children but has been around grandchildren age 9+ years and for this reason we feel a home with slightly older, more sensible children would be preferred. Oscar is housetrained and will even go out in the rain. He sleeps in his own bed in his owner’s bedroom and has used a crate in the past. He is fine being left for up to four hours although would prefer company, like most dachshunds. Oscar isn’t a fan of car journeys, he gets quite stressed, so a home with a garden and local walks that don’t involve getting in the car would be great. Outside of the home, Oscar loves his walks and enjoys sniffing around in the undergrowth. He walks nicely on the lead and is allowed off lead in safe spaces. He can be barky towards dogs he doesn’t know, usually larger ones but his owner feels he could potentially be happy in a home with another, calm dog. He is a sweet little dog who will be a wonderful companion in a family who can give him the time that he needs. Requirements in a home for Oscar A calm and loving home where someone who is at home much of the time Could possibly live with another calm dog Calm, sensible children 13+ No cats He would love a garden to explore and sunbathe in To find out more about Oscar, please email Clare at
