Osko &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male

Osko is an 8-year-old Dalmatian who has come a long way. He was rescued from euthanasia and arrived in a poor state, overweight and with severe urinary problems that required multiple surgeries and a long recovery period. Today, that period is behind him and I can show the dog I really am, a cuddly dog very close to humans. At home, I am calm and pleasant to live with, I gladly snuggle up against you on the couch for long cuddling sessions. I am clean, calm, and know how to enjoy my downtime. I welcome visitors and am sociable with humans, even when I don't know them yet. I am playful, chewing and squeaky toys are a hit. I am also interested in what is on the plates of humans, I have already started losing weight and this work will have to continue with a diet and activity adapted. I can stay alone, although the departures were difficult at the beginning of my welcome, now I manage to settle down. And since no one is perfect, you should also know that some doors left ajar have no secrets for me. I enjoy walks, I don't pull on the leash and I gladly take advantage of my outings. Regarding my relationships, I went through a period of significant pain related to my surgeries, and since then, several encounters have been difficult to manage. Today, I am learning to be able to cross other dogs, maintain a comfortable distance and give up without getting emotional. I progress when situations are properly anticipated. My future family will have to continue this work, without putting me in unnecessary difficulty. Cats will not be suitable roommates: I tend to chase those I meet outside. On a daily basis, I am a tender and affectionate dog. I love my little comfort, my squeaky toys, walks and long cuddling sessions. All I need is a family for whom lending a paw will mean: you continue the cuddles, please? So give me a chance to enter your life

About Osko &#8211

What life with Osko &#8211 looks like

Osko &#8211 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Association Ron'Rhône in Lyon.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Osko &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Osko &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Ron'Rhône handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Osko &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Osko &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Ron'Rhône will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Osko &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Osko &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Ron'Rhône early rather than rehoming privately; they know Osko &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
