Oslo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Oslo came to the city animal shelter with his brother Lenny in 2018. The two brothers are the longest residents of the shelter and have seen many dogs come and go without anyone ever falling in love with either of them. But no one really understands why, because they are big and black? In fact, Oslo is such a warm-hearted, clingy, and lovable male dog who does everything to please his people. For several months now, Oslo has been diligently training with a volunteer trainer and shows himself to be absolutely motivated and eager to learn. He takes great joy in learning new things and is easily guided and inspired. He has made significant progress and now masters the commands Sit, Down, and with the right treats, the leash work is also improving. Oslo loves when the volunteers take time for him. He savors every moment of attention. Whether it’s a little walk to relieve himself, a training session, a few minutes of running in the run, or simply cuddling and snuggling – Oslo is always there with great joy and gratitude. There are still no signs of age-related aches and pains in the two brothers. Oslo and Lenny are fit and ready for any adventure. They are looking forward to variety and it’s clear how much they enjoy forgetting the dreary cage routine a few times a week and getting a bit of exercise. Long walks, hikes, or nice outings with the family are something the two unfortunately (still) don’t know, but we are sure that Lenny and Oslo would love to accompany their people everywhere. Also, Oslo shows no complications when it comes to other dogs. In the many years at the animal shelter, he has met many different and varied dogs and shows no real interest in other fellow animals. Some male dogs he finds a bit unsympathetic, but overall, he has no problems with them.

DE·Show original

About Oslo

What life with Oslo looks like

Oslo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oslo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oslo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oslo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oslo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oslo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oslo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oslo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
