Otter

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 5 years

When she's feeling playful, Otter loves nothing more than a game with her tennis balls. Watching her confidence grow and seeing her playful personality emerge is one of the many joys of getting to know her. She enjoys spending time with her favourite people and is always ready to snuggle up for some quality time together. For the right person, Otter's journey from worried girl to devoted companion will be incredibly rewarding. If you'd like to be part of that journey, be sure to add her to your favourites and submit an application. Some friendships take a little longer to blossom, and Otter is the perfect example. This lovely 5-year-old Spaniel prefers to get to know people at her own pace, so she will need multiple meets with potential adopters to help her build confidence and form a bond. Once you're in her circle, however, you'll have a friend for life. Otter is looking for an adult-only home and is happy to have walking friends out and about. She can also be left for up to six hours and travels well in the car, making her a lovely companion for days out and adventures. For those willing to take things at Otter's pace, there's a wonderful companion waiting to emerge. As trust develops, her gentle and affectionate nature really begins to shine through, and you'll soon discover what a special girl she is. Otter does have some medical requirements that our vet team can discuss further with you.

About Otter

What life with Otter looks like

Otter is a adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Otter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Otter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
