Pablo

Doberman · Male · Young · 1 year

Pablo has had a difficult start and has spent most of his life in kennels, we are so excited to help him start his new chapter. With the right environment, understanding and commitment, Pablo has so much potential to be a wonderful companion. He's a big, silly, loving boy who deserves someone willing to see the best in him, help him through the things he finds difficult and give him the safe, happy life he deserves. Any adopter of Pablo will be fully supported by Training Team here at Ballymena with 1-1 sessions training sessions, multiple meets and home trials. If you feel like you are an experienced home who is willing to give Pablo the time, commitment and love he deserves, just fill in and application and don't forget to 'Favourite' him. Meet the handsome Pablo! Pablo is a lovable, affectionate young Dobermann with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This clever, goofy boy loves his toys, treats, cuddles and spending time with his favourite people. He enjoys learning and playing, and would thrive with a family who can continue his training, keep his mind busy and build a strong bond with him. Pablo is looking for an experienced owner who understands larger breeds who is confident handling strong dogs and can help him navigate situations he finds challenging. He needs a quiet, rural or peaceful home, away from busy areas, other animals and unfamiliar people, where he can feel safe and settled. Pablo must be the only pet in the home, he can live in an adult-only home or potentially with older dog savvy teens after assessment. Pablo barks and lunges at other dogs but enjoys working through training plans with his handlers. His ideal person will be comfortable managing his needs, continuing his training and driving him to quieter walking spots where he can enjoy his adventure. He needs to wear a muzzle when out and about, but the great news is that he is confident and happy wearing it! A fully secure garden with fencing at least six feet high is essential, as is a home where someone is around for much of the day, particularly while he settles in and gradually learns to feel comfortable being left alone.

About Pablo

What life with Pablo looks like

Pablo is a large young adult doberman dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pablo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pablo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pablo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pablo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pablo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pablo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pablo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
