BackgroundThis handsome boy is Paco. Paco is a male German Shepherd, born in August 2018. He came to us after being seized. Paco was abused and this was fortunately noticed. Now he's looking for a home where he is treated well!CharacterPaco needed some time to get used to us. He was a bit reserved and distrustful. That's not surprising if you know what a hard hand is... We gave him time and took things step by step. He quickly understood that we had the best intentions and his regular caregivers became very popular. Paco underwent several tests and it turns out he must have a very good heart to still trust people so much! What stands out is that he doesn't know how to deal with calm moments and becomes nervous. We are working on this and it is improving. He walks nicely and does not pull on the leash. We are looking for people who have experience with herding dogs, especially these with a backpack. He needs stable but gentle guidance! In our home environment he does well. Still, this needs to be built up. Meanwhile, he is also learning bench training and muzzle training.PlacementPaco is looking for people who want to spend some time with him. This way he gets to know you and a bond of trust can be built. People who want to give him back their trust and guide him with a gentle hand. Because of his past, we place him as a dog alone. So he can get all the attention and there are not too many stimuli present. He is also too uncertain for children.

AchtergrondDeze knappe jongen is Paco. Paco is een Duitse herder reu, geboren in augustus 2018. Hij kwam bij ons terecht na een inbeslagname. Paco werd mishandeld en dit werd gelukkig opgemerkt. Nu mag hij op zoek naar een thuis waar hij goed behandeld wordt!KarakterPaco had eventjes tijd nodig om aan ons te wennen. Hij was wat terughoudend en wantrouwig. Wat niet raar is als je een harde hand kende… We gaven hem tijd en gingen stap voor stap te werk. Hij begreep toch redelijk snel dat we de beste bedoelingen hadden en z’n vaste mensen werden al snel erg graag gezien. Paco onderging verschillende testen en daaruit blijkt toch dat hij een erg goed hart moet hebben om mensen nog zo te vertrouwen! Wat wel opvalt is dat hij niet goed weet hoe hij met een ‘rustig’ moment moet omgaan en wordt dan nerveus. We werken hieraan en het betert. Hij wandelt aangenaam en trekt niet aan de leiband. We zoeken mensen die wel ervaring hebben met herdershonden, zeker deze met een rugzakje. Hij heeft nood aan stabiele, maar zachte sturing! In onze huiselijke omgeving doet hij het wel goed. Toch moet dit best worden opgebouwd. Hij leert ondertussen ook benchtraining en muilkorftraining. PlaatsingPaco zoekt mensen die toch enkele afspraakjes met hem willen doen. Zo leert hij je kennen en kan er al een vertrouwensband worden opgebouwd. Mensen die hem terug vertrouwen willen geven en met zachte hand sturing willen geven. Omwille van z’n verleden plaatsen we hem als hond alleen. Zo kan hij alle aandacht krijgen en zijn er niet te veel prikkels aanwezig. Ook voor kinderen is hij te onzeker.
