Paco

Mastiff · Male · Adult · 7 years

Paco is a truly wonderful boy with a gentle and joyful soul. He is brilliant with other dogs and absolutely adores our two Frenchies. When he sees other dogs, he happily jumps around, eager to play. He shows no aggression at all — even if another dog is reactive or aggressive, Paco simply moves away calmly. He is a very happy dog who walks along wagging his tail, often looking like he is smiling. While he can still have some nervous moments with new people and unfamiliar situations, he has made great progress and continues to grow in confidence every day. He can sometimes feel unsure around cyclists and cars with trailers, but overall he is becoming much more relaxed.Once Paco recognizes someone, he absolutely loves attention and a big fuss. He has even learned how to play with toys and enjoys his walks, strolling along at a gentle, unhurried pace.We live in the countryside where life is quiet, and Paco regularly interacts with people from around ten nearby households. He has not yet been taken into busy, built-up areas, mainly due to his size, which can sometimes make people feel a little intimidated. Despite his impressive appearance, Paco is low-energy, undemanding, and an absolute delight to have around.Paco is a kind, calm, and loving companion who would bring warmth and happiness to any home.

About Paco

What life with Paco looks like

Paco is a extra-large adult mastiff dog waiting at PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with PAWS-PATAS Animal Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
