Pancho

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Pancho has already had to endure how harsh the world can be for a dog’s heart in his young life. Together with two male Galgo dogs, Titan and Moreno, he was rescued from a Spanish Perrera – a place where hope is often a fleeting thought. The three dogs were simply given away because their previous owners sold their country house and no longer had the space or desire to keep the animals. For Pancho, this meant being cast out, discarded, and unloved. Yet, despite everything, this wonderful male dog carries a quiet gentleness within him. He is not a bold one, not one to rush to people – rather, he observes first, cautiously approaching. Pancho is reserved, shy, and in some situations also fearful. In the safe environment of the animal shelter in Villena, he begins to slowly understand that not all people are disappointing. He allows closeness – gently, carefully, with an expression in his eyes that clearly conveys: “I want to trust you, please show me that I can.” Beside Titan, the sovereign Galgo, Pancho blossoms. He is strongly oriented towards him – seeking protection, support, and guidance. For his future family, a pre-existing, secure, and social only dog would be a great gift. A calm canine companion that Pancho can orient himself towards would help him adapt more quickly to his new life. In dealing with people, Pancho shows friendliness and kindness – once he has gained trust. His character is calm, balanced, and absolutely lovable. He is not one to push to the forefront, but his subtle signals speak volumes. Those who choose him will be rewarded with a particularly loyal, sensitive companion who will return every form of patience and love a thousandfold – with small progressions, quiet gratitude, and the greatest gift: his trust. Pancho seeks people who give him time. Those who do not pressure him but accompany him. Those who stand by him with feeling and understanding, supporting him as he fills the chapter “New Beginning” with hope and love.

About Pancho

What life with Pancho looks like

Pancho is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pancho, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pancho?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pancho on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pancho if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pancho already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pancho isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pancho and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
