Panda

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Puppy · 8 months

Panda can be over-excitable and boisterous when meeting other dogs. Although he is dog-friendly, he currently lacks appropriate manners. He would benefit from suitable walking buddies to help him continue developing positive social skills at his own pace. Panda also loves having an appropriate outlet for his energy and enthusiasm — he particularly enjoys ripping up toys and taking part in enrichment activities that keep his clever brain busy! Panda is currently unable to be left alone, so his new family will need to gradually build up any time left home alone once he has settled into his new environment. His new owners should be prepared for the commitment that comes with a young, lively puppy and be keen to continue his training, socialisation and enrichment. In return, Panda has the potential to become a wonderful companion for the right experienced family. Panda is a super sweet, intelligent 8-month-old boy who is full of enthusiasm and ready to learn! He is confident and very excitable when meeting new people, he absolutely loves people and wants to please them. Panda is a energetic puppy who enjoys being active and busy, he will thrive in a home that can continue his positive training and provide plenty of mental enrichment as well as physical exercise. He is incredibly quick to learn, so an experienced owner who will enjoy helping him develop into a well-rounded adult dog would be ideal. Panda can live with secondary-aged children who are comfortable and confident around a bouncy, excitable puppy. He is still experiencing many things and environments for the first time, so there may be occasions when he becomes overwhelmed or worried and will need patient, supportive guidance.

About Panda

What life with Panda looks like

Panda is a puppy/kitten staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Basildon in Wickford.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Panda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Panda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Basildon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Panda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Panda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Basildon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Panda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Panda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Basildon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Panda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
