Parsley (& Thyme)

Guinea Pig · Female · Young · 3 years

Hello, we’re Parsley and Thyme, two sweet girls who are looking for a home where we can finally feel safe, settled, and part of the family. We’re approximately 3 years old, and while we may have had a rather rough start, we’re hoping that the next chapter of our lives can be a much happier one. We were sadly found all alone, abandoned in a cage by some bins which was a pretty frightening. We don’t really understand why we were left behind. But despite everything, we still have plenty of love to give.We absolutely love our food. In fact, one of the best ways to win our hearts is to come bearing vegetables! Carrots are a particular favourite, and we’re also big fans of lovely leafy greens. If there’s something tasty to munch on, you can be sure we’ll be there investigating immediately. We also love having a good run around and exploring our surroundings. There’s nothing quite like having a lovely big space to stretch our little legs, potter about together, and get on with all our important guinea pig business. We can be a little nervous around people at first, which is understandable considering everything we’ve been through. We just need some kind and patient humans who will give us time to realise that we’re safe. Parsley in particular has a very sweet side and once she trusts you, she does enjoy having a little cuddle every now and again. We think the longer we spend with our new family, the more we’ll bond with them and the more our confidence will grow. We may not rush over to greet you on day one, but we have a feeling that, with patience and lots of tasty vegetables, we’ll gradually show you just how lovely we really are.We could live indoors, or in a suitably heated outdoor enclosure where we have plenty of space and all the comforts we need. We’d also be happy to join an existing herd of friendly guinea pigs, provided there is enough space for everyone to live happily together. As a pair, we need a cage size of 27" x 56", so we have plenty of room to explore, exercise, and enjoy life side by side. After being abandoned and feeling so discarded, what we really want now is somewhere we can feel wanted. We’d love a family who will treat us as proper little members of the household, spoil us with delicious veggies, give us time to find our confidence, and let us show them what two very special guinea pigs we can be.We’re ready for our happy ending now, so please register your interest today! What life with Parsley (& Thyme) looks like

Parsley (& Thyme) is a large young adult guinea pig animal waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Parsley (& Thyme) far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Parsley (& Thyme), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Parsley (& Thyme)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Parsley (& Thyme) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Parsley (& Thyme) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Parsley (& Thyme) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Parsley (& Thyme) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Parsley (& Thyme) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
