Parsnip & Turnip

Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

Background: Meet Parsnip and Turnip, a bonded pair of (currently entire) boars. These lovely boys sadly came to Raystede due the being part of an unplanned litter. They are very shy and timid currently so are looking for a quite, calm home. We are sure that with the love and patience they deserve, they will find their confidence and their personalities will start to shine through. They are already starting to explore their enclosure with staff around so their confidence is growing. Home wanted: They are looking for a home as a pair. A pair will require a minimum enclosure of at least 10.5 square feet of unbroken space on one level. They must have plenty of unrestricted hay and a variety of enrichment. They would like to be homed indoors all year around with supervised access to a suitable run on warmer summer days. They are looking for a calm home willing to provide the time and patience they need to come out of their shells and let their personalities flourish. Children: Parsnip and Turnip would prefer an adult only home. They are nervous and scatty at times so must not be surrounded by loud noises and should only be handled by the adults. Other animals: The pair must be re-homed together as they are bonded. Will need to be kept separate from other pets in the home. Additional needs: A home with experience of nervous guinea pigs and handling. The boys are due to be neutered soon which will be done before adoption. Boys need regular maintenance of their grease glands and checking for impaction. They are looking for a dedicated and committed forever home, ready to give them lots of attention and fuss. If you think you could offer the lovely Parsnip and Turnip their forever home, please complete an online application form.

Frequently asked

Adopting Parsnip & Turnip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Parsnip & Turnip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Parsnip & Turnip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Parsnip & Turnip if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Raystede Centre what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Parsnip & Turnip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask Raystede Centre directly what is included and what Parsnip & Turnip still needs.
What happens if Parsnip & Turnip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Parsnip & Turnip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
