Patata

Podenco Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 9 years

Patata is a very sweet Podenco Maneto senior lady, who was rescued by our volunteers from a life on a chain in a chicken yard. With vision in only one eye, and a massive hernia growth on her belly, we do not know how long poor Patata has been living like this. At the very least, she has not been starved, so in the cruel world we live it, at least that is something we can somehow be glad about. Her hernia and the destroyed eye will be removed right away and she will start recovery, the veterinaries are not too concerned about neither the growth nor the eye. Patata is a really soft sweet girl, a bit shy at first, but right away you can see that she wants to be happy, that she wants to be loved and cared for. When she knows you and you approach her, you get the sweetest little tail wags to greet you, and then she comes to put her nose in your hand, for gentle caressing. She is a bit worried when we dress her with a harness and a collar, and put a leash on the collar - as if she might be thinking it's time to be chained up again, but once she realises that no, it's time to go for a walk, well then the potato gets happy indeed! She loves to go for a walk, and wiggles her whole body on the walk! Being loose in an open space like a dog park is still stressy and confusing for her, she most likely has not had the freedom to run around safely in her life before, so ideally in her new home, she will be introduced to different interior and exterior spaces slowly. Patata is social and kind with other dogs, and quickly joins others. When the other dogs bark at her dominantly, then she gets a bit shy and wants to leave the conflict situation. Patata is looking for a slow home near the nature, a home full of patience, routine and kindness. She comes with a heavy baggage on her back from her past life, and she needs help to carry it and loose the old luggage, to fill her life with new and happy experiences. She might be a senior lady, but her steps are full of spring, and she is ready for a new life! Her shoulder height is 34cm.

About Patata

What life with Patata looks like

Patata is a small senior podenco dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΈAdopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Patata, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Patata?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Patata on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Patata if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Patata already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Patata isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Patata and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
