We cannot provide phone consultations! Adopt me! Home sought for Paul – German Shepherd (Gray), 4.5 years old Paul is an absolute sweetheart of a dog: sensitive, loyal, and very attached to his people. He craves the company of his trusted people, enjoys quiet hours on a warm, comfortable spot, and loves generous cuddle sessions – including belly rubs. At home, Paul is quiet, balanced, and unobtrusive. He can be left alone and is territorial and alert without being overly noisy or causing stress. Outdoors, he shows his active side: walks through fields, forests, and meadows bring him great joy. The recall is already working well, but should be reinforced regularly. Paul is child-friendly and knows how to handle children of different ages. He also shows great compatibility with other animals, whether dogs, cats, chickens, or small animals. During dog encounters, he can initially react nervously, but can be well accompanied with calm, confident handling and some motivation through treats. Paul has mild, breed-specific joint limitations. He doesn’t like sitting down and often assumes a protective stance when lying down. A targeted muscle and joint strengthening training would be very beneficial for him. Stairs should be avoided as much as possible, especially going down causes him discomfort. For Paul, we wish for a loving, understanding home with people who take his size, sensitivity, and needs seriously and give him appropriate exercise and plenty of closeness. Whoever takes in Paul, gets a very special, loyal soul dog by their side. Paul in summary: – German Shepherd (Gray) – male, neutered, approximately 4.5 years – microchipped, vaccination status not current – very people-oriented, quiet at home, active outdoors – child-friendly – very good with other animals – mild joint limitations – seeks a home with understanding without many stairs Important note: Paul currently lives with his owner and will be rehomed as part of our placement assistance. If interested, please contact us exclusively through the contact form or by email. We regret that we cannot provide phone consultations.

Telefonische Auskünfte können wir nicht geben! Adoptier mich!

About Paul

What life with Paul looks like

Paul is a small adult great dane dog waiting at Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. in Eutin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Eutin und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
