Paul

Male · Puppy

Paul comes from Hungarian animal protection. He was seized along with 29 other dogs by the authorities. The dogs were on an abandoned farm, some chained up, others roaming freely. Their owner came every few days to provide water and food. No cuddles, no kind words, no walks. The sweet little Labbi mixed breed still doesn't fully trust people. When you enter his kennel, he comes out of his hiding spot to take treats from your hand. He currently doesn't want to be petted, but in a few weeks, that will surely change. Some dogs just need more time to build trust. Since Paul is a bit of a glutton like a Lab, you can achieve a lot with him through food. Paul is now being accustomed to a harness and learning to walk on a leash. By the time of his travel arrangements, he will surely have mastered this. Whoever wants to give Paul a wonderful home should bring plenty of time and patience and provide a very calm, secure environment. There should not be young children in the new home. Paul is compatible with other dogs of both sexes. A confident dog already in the family would certainly be an advantage, but it is not a must. Paul is, of course, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, vet-checked, has an EU pet passport, and will be given with full documentation. As always, we point out that a dog from foreign animal protection needs time, patience, and a loving settling-in period. New impressions, new routines, and new bonds should be allowed to grow at their own pace. Whoever is ready to embark on this journey together will be rewarded with a particularly deep connection. The handover will take place on 09.05.2026 in Berlin or, alternatively, in the Stuttgart area, if someone falls in love and wants to give him a "forever home." Brief info: Name Paul (Pontiac) Breed this breed Gender male neutered Age 11.04.24 Shoulder height ca.

DE·Show original

About Paul

What life with Paul looks like

Paul is a puppy/kitten dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
