adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The wonderful Paul is a mixed breed herding dog around 3 years old from Bistrița, Romania. He has developed very typical for his breed and is now searching for an experienced home that meets his needs and greets him with calmness, clarity, and trust. Paul is a loving, mature, and clever dog who enjoys being in contact with his people. He is eager to learn, attends regular dog training classes, and already masters the most important basic commands like sit, stay, down, and recall. He has also successfully completed harness and muzzle training. In a familiar environment, Paul walks reliably on a leash and shows attentiveness and obedience. With other animals, Paul is generally friendly and playful, though sometimes a bit stormy. He loves learning new things—whether it’s carrying, small tricks, or head work: as long as he’s there and can experience something with his people. In new situations or with unfamiliar, loud noises (e.g., gunshots, tractors), Paul still reacts uncertainly. Additionally, he—typical for his breed—sometimes displays territorial behavior and can defend resources like food or toys in certain situations. Here, he needs experienced, confident people who can give him security, set clear boundaries, and at the same time be fair and loving with him. For Paul, we wish for a herding dog-experienced home with a house and garden, where he can live according to his nature—quiet, structured, and with a close family connection. An experienced single dog could also provide additional orientation and stability for him. Paul is microchipped, vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport. Post-neutering, he is not. Many thanks, Fina! You have given Paul his name! Many thanks to Regina Minailo for the beautiful photos and video of Paul! Date: 06.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 06.10.2025

About Paul

What life with Paul looks like

Paul is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
