Paul

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Our animal welfare workers report: it was a heartbreaking sight when an animal rescuer on January 8, 2026, rescued the small Paul from a very loud, Romanian highway. Paul crouched beside his friend – a dead cat 😪 – and guarded her. It was heart-wrenching! A picture that no one will soon forget! The fluffy puppy snuggled up to the deceased velvet paw and cuddled hopefully into the cat's fur of the recently deceased animal. The rescuer brought both off the road and gave the cat a dignified burial. Paul's condition, however, was concerning: his skin was in a very bad state and had to be treated by a veterinarian for weeks. Today, there is nothing left of that. Paulchen is now fully healthy and ready for adoption. 💛The (still) small, plush four-legged creature is a loving, curious, gentle teddy bear who simply wants to belong and explores the world playfully. According to the animal welfare workers' assessment (as of mid-February 2026), Paul will reach a medium size in adulthood; this can still be estimated more precisely with each passing day. For now, he sits alone in a dreary room in an animal shelter. There is no play, no own dog bed, no family. He has gone through so much – now his beautiful life should finally begin.🍀Who will give Paul a loving home and show him how beautiful the world can be? Please note:. This is a young, adolescent dog.

About Paul

What life with Paul looks like

Paul is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
